Apple could soon be launching a watch-like gadget after the computer giant applied for a trademark for the ‘iWatch’.
The application covers computers, computer peripherals and watches.
The move, revealed on the website of the Japan Patent Office, comes as computer giants turn their attention to wearable gadgets.
Google recently unveiled its Glass product – a mix of spectacles and a computer.
The iWatch trademark application was made on June 3 but not made public until the end of last month.
Apple has never officially confirmed rumours it is working on a watch-based version of its iPhone and iPad operating system, although its chief executive officer Tim Cook has hinted at developing a wearable device such as a wristwatch.
