Tech heavyweights Apple and Samsung will lead the pack at this year’s ‘gadget oscars’ with nine nominations each.
The bitter rivals go head-to-head in four categories at the T3 Awards, including Tech Brand of the Year and Smartphone of the Year.
Sony’s recent resurgence is rewarded with eight nominations thanks mainly to their popular Bravia TV’s and Xperia Z tablet.
Away from the hardware, Tech Moment of the Year looks to be hotly contested with Felix Baumgartner’s space jump up against the Curiosity Rover landing on Mars.
Gangnam Style reaching a billion YouTube views, goal-line technology in the Premier League, EE launching 4G, and the battle between the PS4 and Xbox One complete the category.
Cars have become an increasingly important part of the tech world and Mini, BMW, Audi, Mercedes, VW and Ford are all shortlisted for gadget-laden models.
The public can now vote across 17 categories and choose which gadgets, apps and brands will walk away with a coveted award at October’s ceremony.
T3 Editor, Luke Peters, says: “It’s a fantastically varied shortlist with gaming and fitness products being stand-out trends.
“I’m particularly excited about what the judges and readers deem the Tech Moment of the Year and am fascinated to see what gadget-packed motor wins Car of the Year.”
