At the forthcoming Frankfurt Motor Show, Mercedes will present a brand new compact SUV. The Mercedes GLA will be offered in four models, with horsepower ranging from 136 (GLA 200 CDI 4MATIC) to 211 (GLA 250 4MATIC). The most eco-friendly model in the new range is the Mercedes GLA 200 CDI, whose 136 hp diesel engine emits just 114 grams of CO2 per kilometer.
On the opposite end of the spectrum, the most powerful model is the Mercedes GLA 250 4MATIC, which goes from 0 to 100km/h in just 6.5 seconds.
With a maximum speed of 235 km/hour, the top performer consumes 7.1 liters of fuel per 100km, emitting the equivalent of 151 grams of CO2 per kilometer.
This new SUV will be the first equipped with the next-generation 4MATIC system, which ensures an even distribution of power to all four wheels.
In terms of assisted driving, the Mercedes GLA offers an accident prevention assistance, which alerts drivers of potential collisions when rolling at speeds of 7km/h or higher, and automatically slows down the car when its speed exceeds 200km/h. The system also helps to prevent accidents when the car is in reverse.
The Mercedes GLA will make its debut in a more and more competitive market, joining the BMW X1 and the Audi Q3. The first pre-orders can be placed in November for delivery in 2014.
