Zanzibar’s Floating House

Sleep next to coral reef and watch octopus creep by before bedtime in the new Manta Underwater Room off Pemba Island, Zanzibar.

Part of The Manta Resort, the encapsulated “blue bubble” is a three-tiered floating house, with two storeys above water, and one below. Sunbathe or stargaze on top; sleep with the 360-degree murmur of the surrounding sea beneath. At night, the underwater spotlights below each window around the room attract the shyer and more unusual sea life.

You can stay in the Manta Underwater Room as part of a Safari Consultants package, which also includes the chance to sleep in the “Nest”, a hut suspended high up in an Elephant Pepper tree. The package also includes guided vehicles on the game drive by day and night vision cameras after dark.
