LONDON‘s Tower Bridge has unveiled a new glass-bottom walkway that gives visitors a sky-high perspective of the city’s iconic double-decker red buses, pedestrians and boats from right under their feet.
Measuring 11 meters long and nearly 2 meters wide, the glass floor stretches across the West Walkway, 42 meters above the Thames River.
Each glass panel weighs 530 kg. The walkway also offers panoramic views of the city for those who may suffer from vertigo.
A second glass bottom floor is also slated to open in the East Walkway on December 1.
The newest addition to the Tower Bridge follows in the heels of other international landmarks and sites including the Eiffel Tower, the CN Tower in Toronto and the Grand Canyon, which already offer glass-bottom views.
Land Rover’s Special Vehicle Operations (SVO) division has announced it is partnering with bespoke sporting rifle maker Holland & Holland to create the ultimate luxury SUV.
It is based on the standard £140,000 long-wheelbase Range Rover Autobiography Black, which is stretched 200mm over the standard model to give generous rear legroom.
From the exterior, the changes are subtle, the only clues being its color — a unique shade of green — and color-matched front grille.
On the inside, it’s a different story. The cabin is wrapped in tan and espresso leather hides and embroidered with the Holland & Holland name.
The center and rear consoles are finished in hand-matched French Walnut veneer; even the door handles feature hand engravings.
In the rear two passengers can recline in front of individual televisions, and simply press a button to activate or retract matching walnut tables.
However, it’s behind the rear passengers where the biggest difference lies. Holland & Holland are makers of some of the world’s best shotguns and the owner of this car will find a pair in their own specially designed leather-trimmed aluminum case in the boot.
The case sits on a sliding platform built from carbon fiber and aluminum and finished in walnut veneer and leather that has been designed to be load-bearing. It’s the perfect place to sit for an impromptu picnic during the hunt or simply when traveling point to point.
Only 40 Holland & Holland Range Rovers will be built a year for the next three years and each one comes with a guide price of £180,000.
The car is available on special order only, making it the most exclusive Range Rover available today. It’s powered by either the 334bhp 4.4-litre SDV8 diesel, or the 503bhp 5.0-litre Supercharged V8.
DUBAI is reaching for the skies with a plan to build the world’s tallest twin towers as part of its “The Lagoons” project.
The Dubai Twin Towers are set to “define a new skyline for the city”, although an architect for the project has yet to be announced.
The mixed-use towers will form part of The Lagoons, a “city of the future” comprising 40-storey residential towers by Emaar Properties and Dubai Holding. The concept forms part of the Dubai Creek Harbour project.
Spread over 6 million square meters, The Lagoons will feature its own integrated transport systems, environmentally sustainable ecosystems and park areas, alongside Dubai Creek Residences, a series of luxury waterfront apartments.
Dubai Creek Harbour at The Lagoons will also feature cultural amenities, healthcare centers and retail space.
Dubai Creek Residences will launch on November 1 in Dubai, Abu Dhabi, London and Moscow, where apartments will be available for pre-sale.
A construction date for the twin towers has yet to be announced.
HUGO BOSS will become a team partner of the Formula One race team Mercedes AMG Petronas next season, it has been confirmed.
The announcement brings to an end Hugo Boss’ long association with McLaren, which began back in 1981 – over 30 years ago.
“With Mercedes-Benz and Hugo Boss formally intensifying their existing co-operations earlier this year, extending the partnership into the brand’s Formula 1 team was a logical progression,” explained a statement.
The fashion company will provide team clothing with branding also appearing on the race cars driven by Lewis Hamilton and Nico Rosberg.
Hugo Boss will also develop a ‘BOSS for Mercedes-Benz Collection’ which will be available twice a year featuring high-end menswear fashion.
